Joe Mann, a true SEO guru, worked with a client based in Milwaukee called Burlington RV. Despite having an SEO team, the sales team approached Sinclair Digital in order to perform better in search.
“For most users, if a person in Milwaukee conducts the search ‘RV Dealer’ or ‘buy RV’ – the results they see are the same as if they or anyone anywhere searched the term ‘RV dealer Milwaukee, Wisconsin’ or ‘buy RV Milwaukee, Wisconsin,’” Mann said. If Google understands your location it automatically appends your location (city, state) to most of your searches – and Google understands the location of approximately 85% of users.”
What were the client goals for SEO before the completion of the project?
“Once the management of Burlington RV understood better about how locality works in Google search, they set the goals of improving search results and especially improving results for target locations,” Mann said.
How did you help the client achieve their goals?
“They did quickly make some changes that boosted the position in search results of relevant searches containing Milwaukee, and Wisconsin, jumping into the first page and even top 3 results for a wide range of searches of importance to them as sellers of campers and RVs,” Mann said. They also improved somewhat for their second market, Green Bay, although not as dramatically as for Milwaukee (the dealer is located in the metro Milwaukee area).”
Why was this project a success?
“The main focus of our work was improving SEO for organic searches,” Mann said. “The changes that were made had been almost exclusively onsite – i.e. changes to the website, especially including the addition of some text (including locality names was of prime importance). “
