Who won what?? Joe Man awarded…
Congratulations are in order for Compulse’s SEO Specialist, Joe Mann! Joe recently received the Kiwanis International Boy Scouts of America Community Organization Award in recognition of a decade spent volunteering with Boy Scout Troop 167 in Arlington, VA. This esteemed award recognizes members of Kiwanis International for voluntary service and achievement.
As the founder and coordinator of the troop’s Scholarship Program, Joe found a way to cover the cost of dues for underprivileged boys so they could become scouts. Funded by the Kiwanis Club of Arlington, the scholarships also cover most overnight event, summer camp and high adventure expedition fees, as well as camping equipment and other necessities so recipients can participate fully in the enriching activities scouting offers.
Currently, Joe serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 167, coordinating the Meatfest event at a shooting campout in the fall, transporting scouts to and from meetings and events in the troop-owned van and volunteering as an adult leader for overnight events. Soon, Joe’s role as an adult leader will take him to New Mexico for the troop’s summer trip.
Overall, the Scholarship Program has enrolled between four to 15 students at various times and has provided funding every year since the its inception. In Troop 167, this financial assistance has proved crucial to keeping these boys enrolled and offering them new opportunities in live. Ever humble, Joe speaks of his award without addressing it, saying only that “working with these boys and the troop has been a great privilege and one of the highlights of my life.
Congratulations again to Joe Mann on his dedicated service to Boy Scout Troop 167 in Arlington, VA. Many of our teammates at Compulse already volunteer in the community, but Joe’s long-term commitment and remarkable impact serve as an example and inspiration to us all.
