Twitter is the best way to reach your customers in real-time and to conduct timely customer service. With so many tweets being sent out daily, you want to find a way to make your brand stand out and to get followers to interact with your service or product.
Here are strategies to make sure your activities on Twitter have impact for your business:
Tweet with Photos, Videos and Gifs.
“With so many brands on Twitter, you want to provide your followers with content of value. You want to give them visual cues to stop and engage (Retweet, Quote Tweet, or Click) with your Tweet,” said Dave Trausneck, social media news team member.
For tweets with photos, you have the choice of using one specific photo or using more than one photo. When uploading images, you want them to be the measurements of 525 x 262 pixels. This guarantees that your image will be presented correctly on both mobile and desktop. For tweets with video, your videos will only last 30 seconds. Want your video to last longer? Try using Periscope for a live video discussion with your fans.
Dave mentioned “This is Twitter’s live-streaming function, and a great way to share what’s happening around you with the world or just your followers in real-time. Not only can you talk about new and cool features of your business, you can also use this to address customer feedback and provide solutions for your customers.”
Create a Branding Hashtag and Use Mentions.
“Hashtags (#hashtags) help your business get involved with larger trending topics. They are also great to help users to connect with your brand for customer service. When using hashtags, only use 2 maximum. 1 is ideal. It’s best when you use a hashtag that is relevant to the content like #HumpDay,” said Trausneck.
To create a presence on Twitter, you should create an official hashtag for your brand. Your hashtag should be concise and simple. It should be something that your followers can remember, like your company’s name or a tagline/motto that your followers relate to your brand. Be sure to search for hashtags you are thinking about using to make sure they are not already taken. Also, you can create hashtags for brand events, discussions and contests.
When tweeting about a specific influencer or a specific brand collaborator, be sure to mention (@) them in your tweet to better your chances of reaching new followers through retweets.
Interact with Your Audience.
“Twitter can be a vital resource to your business for turning negative customer experiences into positive experiences. Be quick to respond to any questions, comments, and criticisms that come your way. Long delays in responding can result in greater negative resentment to your brand,” said Trausneck.
It’s good customer service on social media to interact with your followers and respond, especially to tweets with issues or good/bad opinions about your brand. If you need to respond and it doesn’t fit in 140 characters, you can always send a Direct Message (DM).
Create Content Around Trending Events.
Always pay attention to trending topics and events, such as holidays. If you can link your business to a trending hashtag in a relatable way, then format a tweet in your feed. Trending hashtags often change throughout the day. Make sure your trending tweet is timely so that there’s a chance your tweet will be seen by a massive audience.
Look at Your Tweets’ Performance Through Analytics.
Did you know there is a way to check out the analytics of your tweets? Be sure you are logged into your Twitter account and go to analytics.twitter.com.
Take a look at KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) – a metric used to evaluate the success of your tweet. On each tweet, you want to look at the following:
- Impressions
- Engagements (Clicks, retweets, replies, follows, likes)
- Engagement Rate
If you noticed a tweet is getting a lot of engagement through the KPI’s, then try to figure out what is was about that tweet that engaged your audience and use it to inform your future strategy.
